Special Diaphragm Case Study



This customer required a diaphragm to be designed for new product they were developing; an automatic dosing pump for aggressive industrial detergents/fluids within the cleaning industry.

Customer Profile

A global designer and manufacturer of innovative soap, paper and chemical dispensers and dosing systems, this company is a provider for paper and chemical manufacturers, janitorial companies, dishwasher and washing machine suppliers and international corporations.


Sealing Challenge:

The standard design for this type of dosing pump would be peristaltic displacement pump. For this new innovative design the customer required a seal that provided higher flow rates than a peristaltic pump could allow, and also needed to cope with the aggressive fluids associated with the cleaning products.

Ceetak Solution: 

We developed a convoluted diaphragm solution. The design combined a metal piston moulded to NBR for flexibility, with a thin layer of special grade PTFE to allow enhanced flex strength and also to stop the aggressive chemicals from permeating into the rubber and destroying it.


The diaphragm allowed the dosing pump to perform to the customers required life cycle target and also achieved the low power output from the motor as required.

The pump is now in the market and production quantities are being ramped up year on year.
