Seals for Defence applications

For applications with specific requirements, our engineers can assist with the development and testing of new materials. We can develop our base elastomer compounds and to meet particular ASTM, MIL Spec, DefStan or ISO call-out requirements, or individual customer specifications such as chemical/fluid testing or electrical conductivity/shielding requirements. For low friction seals in dynamic applications we have a range of virgin and filled PTFE materials as well as PEEK and UHMWPE thermoplastics.

O-Rings

Manufactured to international standards; AS568, ISO 3601, DIN 3771 and JIS, with metric and non-standard sizes also available. We supply miniature, large diameter, continuously moulded and spliced and vulcanised O-rings. Our precision O-rings can be manufactured in materials that meet AMS, MIL and customer specific approvals. Produced in Nitrile (NBR), Silicone (VMQ), Fluorocarbon (FKM), Fluorosilicone (FVMQ), Hydrogenated Nitrile (HNBR), Polyurethane (PU). Polyacrylate (ACM), Chloroprene (CR), Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer (EPDM), Perfluoroelastomers (FFKM), Ethylene Acrylate (AEM), Epichlorohydrin (ECO) elastomers. We can supply O-rings with surface treatments in the form of dry or wet coatings for reducing friction, ease of installation or colour identification. These coatings are PTFE or thermoplastic, silicone and mineral oils, and MolykoteTM.

Moulded Seals & Gaskets

We specialise in the design and manufacture of precision rubber gaskets and seals, including push-in-place gaskets to address difficult assembly conditions. Designed specifically for each application, our experienced engineers optimise the seal profile geometry using calculations on groove fill, compression and installed squeeze or stretch, combined with non-linear FEA technology to simulate the performance before finalising the design. We provide rapid prototyping and 3D printing to meet your test requirements before cutting production tools. Available in all elastomer compounds, including grades that meet international standards or customer specifications.

Metal Seals

For high or cryogenic temperatures, high pressures, ultra-high vacuum, radiation, aggressive chemicals and gas permeability. Our wide range of base metals for seal jackets and springs include various grades of stainless steel including 304, 316, 321 and 347 and high strength nickel alloys including Inconel 718, 625, X750 and Hastelloy and Waspaloy. Heat treatments can be applied and specialised platings and coatings are available including; Silver, Gold, Copper, Nickel, Indium, Tin, Lead and PTFE.

Environmental Seals

Including flat gaskets, simple O-rings and custom designed deep groove or Push-in-Place (PIP) gaskets. We can advise on the optimum solutions for the sealing of enclosures, equipment boxes and casings to prevent the ingress of dust, water and other contaminants. Using FEA to support the design process, together with decades of experience, our engineers will assist you in the selection of the most suitable sealing approach and material choice taking into account the operational requirements and the assembly processes.

PTFE Seals

Our PTFE cap seals are available for rod, piston, and rotary applications, and can be manufactured in a variety of virgin or filled PTFE and elastomer material combinations depending on each application requirement. Standard seal sizes are for installation in grooves to ISO7425-2 and we can manufacture bespoke sizes and profiles ranging from 3mm to 3200 mm in diameter. PTFE seals with helical, cantilever or canted coil spring energisers can be tailored to any existing customer groove geometry and in numerous jacket material and spring material combinations. Alongside PTFE seals, we offer a range of PEEK and UHMWPE seal profiles, and PTFE and PEEK back-up rings in a variety of materials and designs including solid, split and contoured profiles.

Bonded Components

We design and manufacture precision bespoke components where a metal or plastic insert is over moulded in an elastomer, with secure chemical bonding sometimes supplemented with mechanical locks between the components. All types of elastomer materials can be offered depending on the application requirements and we can over mould free-issue metal components, or source these on a your behalf.

Rotary Seals

Our rotary shaft seals with elastomeric based lips include Nitrile (NBR), Fluorocarbon (FKM), Carboxylated Nitrile (XNBR), Hydrogenated Nitrile (HNBR), Ethylene Propylene (EPDM), Polyacrylate (ACM), Silicone (VMQ) and Neoprene (CR). For applications with enhanced speed and pressure parameters, we offer either seals with PTFE inlays, or full PTFE lip seals that reduce friction, heat generation and optimise shaft and seal life. With a variety of casing and spring materials available, we offer all variants of elastomer seal, including cassette and springless, and also V-Rings for light duty. Our PTFE rotary seals can be metal cased or all PTFE.

RFI/EMI Seals

Gaskets and mouldings manufactured in materials that have been specifically formulated to either have specific levels of conductivity or resistivity. Predominantly silicone based, they have fillers such as carbon, graphite and nickel, and sometimes with a suitable plating. These materials can be used to ensure RFI/EMI shielding effectiveness is not compromised at a joint between a box enclosure and a cover and can also be used where conductivity of electrical signals through a sealed joint is required.

Seal Kitting

At our various warehouse locations we are able to bring together different seal components and kit them into packages which are more suitable for use at your sites. This can include special packaging and with full batch traceability. We can provide assembly or pre-assembly steps to simplify the next stage of your stocking or assembly requirements.
